Made by AlphaLab during Columbia College Chicago's 30-hour February 10-11 game jam with the theme "impending death."
One player controls Bambo, a deer with a vengeance whose goal is to kill all the humans. The other three players control humans, whose goal is to escape on a helicopter... atop a giant tree... growing on top a giant skyscraper... as fire eats the ground beneath them.
Along with many others on the team, we designed the mechanics, the flair, and the feel of the game before setting off to work. I programmed the reticle controls, falling powerups and gravestones (to revive players who have died), the scrolling screen, and its fiery death.
The reticle controls attempt to throw off the Bambo, giving the humans a fighting chance and enhancing the "I'll get you" feel of Bambo's character.
When Bambo makes a kill, he occasionally says random lines.
